EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

May 2014 – Present:
eNCA – Designer / Illustrator / animator.
I deal with web graphics / infographic on the website or animate sequences of film. Two of the animated pieces I worked on won the following awards:

  • Bookmark awards 2016: a Silver Pixel for the story about the Medupi Graves.
  • Standard Bank Sikuvile journalism awards: 2016 for Hope to Glory
  • Standard Bank Sikuvile journalism awards: 2015 for Medupi Graves

I also currently volunteer as an art therapist once a week

February 2013 – May 2013:
Designer and illustrator at Maramedia publishing. This role involved transforming traditional school books into digital stories for iPads. These illustrations (created through Indesign, DPS) had to be visually appealing and interactive. In 2013, the company liquidated.

September 2010 – February 2013:
Designer and illustrator at Global Mouse. Part of the central conceptual and creative team, I specialised in design and high-end creative work. I was also a part of the digital brain trust for our new digital division. Biggest client – Discovery
Simultaneously, I ran and managed a digital venture called Amuse Session, which was a platform for musicians, performers, artists and documentary makers to showcase their skills.

2009 – 2010:
Worked for Umlando Wesitombe as a designer and illustrator. The name means ”History through pictures” and Umlando produced comics, books and short films to educate children and young adults about South Africa’s history.

2005 – 2008:
Worked for Modlin Education. Modlin produced digital educational material – revolutionary for its time – on CD and the web, supplying schools in America, England and other countries. I designed, illustrated and animated for the company.
At the same time, I opened and ran “Earth2 Vegan Restaurant” http://www.earth2.co.za. Earth2 was this country’s first vegan restaurant, which also had a small information shop, selling books on Animal rights, Veganism, Environmental and political issues. We also hosted talks and film screenings.

2002 – 2005:
Worked as a freelance artist.

1999 – 2002:
I ran a company called Virus. Virus was an association of creatives, tackling projects together and selling their skills, while also creating various events as a means of showcasing their talents.

August 1998 – September 1999:
I worked for a company called Party Design in their painting and prop department.
